El poeta, profesor, crítico lilterario, editor, activista cultural y educador Alberto Martínez Márquez


Alberto Martínez Márquez is a writer, literary critic, editor, cultural activist and educator. He obtained his BA at the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras and his MA and Ph.D. in Literary Theory and Latin American Narrative at SUNY-Stony Brook. He currently teaches at the UPR-Aguadilla Campus. He has was a founding member of the magazine Tríptico; and is now co-funder of the internet magazine Desde el límite: www.marcas1pr.net. He is the director of the magazine El Cuervo (UPR-Aguadilla), Editor-in-Chief of the internet literary magazine Letras Salvajes: www.geocities.com/letrassalvajes and of Página del Poeta Invitado: www.geocities.com/poeta_invitado. He has published a poetry book Las formas del vértigo and, with M.Cancel, the anthology El límite volcado: antología de la Generación de Poetas de los Ochenta. His work has been anthologized in, among others: Antología de poesía puertorriqueña, Maestros desconocidos de la poesía hispanoamericana, Proyecciones sobre la novela and Los nuevos caníbales II: la más reciente poesía del Caribe hispano. His play “Harry y la gorda” was published in Expresiones: muestra de ensayo, teatro, narrativa, arte y poesía de la generación X. He was part of “La guagua de la poesía” (in PR). In 2003 he was a co-organizer of “De-generaciones,” (an inter-generational encounter of Puerto Rican poets at several locations in Puerto Rico) and the organizer of the poetry readings “Noche de poesía, música y arte” in Aguadilla and “Poesía flotante I”, “Poesía flotante II” in Aguada. He was president of the P.E.N. Club of Puerto Rico and the designer of its internet page, www.geocities.com/penclubpr. He has read his work and lectured in the USA and PR and is the founder and coordinator of the film series “Serie de Cine Internacional” at the UPR in Aguadilla.
